Republicans and Democrats to Express Bi-Partisan Support of New “True Islam” Campaign and Its 11-Point Challenge
At least six members of U.S. Congress, led by U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA) and U.S. Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX), Co-Chairs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Congressional Caucus, will join 75 delegates of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, along with representatives from the U.S. State Department, U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and other faith-based and civic organizations, to support the new “True Islam” campaign (TrueIslam.com).
The campaign, which was formally launched days after the San Bernardino tragedy, clarifies eleven misconceptions about Islam. It challenges Muslims and non-Muslims alike to actively counter the perverse ideology of extremists in the interest of protecting national security. The campaign has received over 3,000 individual endorsements, including many federal and state lawmakers, city officials, members of law enforcement and faith-based communities.
The nation’s largest Muslim organization, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA has led several prior award-winning campaigns, including Life” blood drive initiative to honor the victims of 9/11.
